It’s a “Blue” Kinda day in the Bluegrass!

Is today really April 1st already? I cannot believe it! I am really launching this new adventure! The Big Blue Debutante is here and I hope you all are ready for this ride.

Like many others, I have had my fare share of blog attempts in the past. But as life happened, my blogging suffered. Over the last couple of months, I’ve had so many awesome things happen in my life, and I wanted a new fresh platform to share them, along with a way to share everything that is yet to come.
Many of you are probably wondering how I landed on the name Big Blue Debutante, right? Well, now it’s time for the story.

Everyone who knows me and my husband Justin, you know that we are diehard Kentucky Wildcats fans. This past football season was a historical season for us. It was the first time in seven years that our team was bowl game eligible and actually made it to a decent one. We squared off and ended up playing Georgia Tech, New Years Eve in Jacksonville, Florida. So of course you already know we had to make the trip, Lord knows we have no idea when it will happen again…haha!

For the last seven years, we have been dedicated season ticket holders, and over the last three years, we’ve been lucky to have some of the best fans sitting in our section. Those fans we now get to call friends! When you are at ANY sporting event, you want these guys and gals around you. They make winning or losing so much more fun! So to Tyler, Courtney, Matt, Amanda, ….THANK YOU for making section 222 awesome!

So now that you have the history, let’s fast forward to the Bowl Game. We all decide we are going to head to Jacksonville to cheer on our CATS! Being the planner that I am, before they even announced where Kentucky would be playing, I had already booked at least 4 hotel rooms in each possible city that we could play in. We were not going to miss out on this game no matter what. Once the bowl selections were made, and we knew where we were playing and who we were playing, it was on! The group texts started flowing. I secured all the tickets, transportation, and hotels for everyone, and all we had to do was show up, and that’s exactly what we did.

December 30th, 2016 rolls around and we are all in sunny Florida. We had dinner plans, had drinks, went to the kickoff pep rally at The Landing, determined our schedule for game day, etc. It was a fun, but quick trip. Even though it ended with our CATS losing to Georgia Tech, we still had an awesome time with new friends! Once it was all said and done and we were all saying our goodbyes, our friend Tyler in particular, he thanked Justin and I for taking care of the bulk of the planning and making sure we all had tickets together and the hotels, and just the constant communication about the trip. That ended with him saying “you know man, I’ve got a new name for you Candace…..I’m going to start calling you The Big Blue Debutante!” We all immediately burst out laughing hysterically, but in the back of my mind I knew the name was so fitting. So in Jacksonville Florida, after a disappointing loss, The Big Blue Debutante was born!…..Thanks Tyler 🙂

I know that was a super long story, but it is what it is. Like that Bowl Game trip, this new blogging adventure is going to be very similar. I hope to meet some new friends along the way, have some fun, share my life experiences, share my favorite things, my style, and maybe even some tips and tricks as we go too!

I hope you all visit often, comment often, and find that this is a place to come to experience things that are a little bit different!

Again, thanks for stopping by and visiting my little piece of heaven!

xoxo,
