Hey ya’ll! Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’ve heard of LipSense. If you’re like me, you might have friends selling it (holla to my friends who are selling LipSense as a side hustle and absolutely rocking it). You might have even seen bloggers paid to review LipSense, or bloggers who got free product in exchange for a review. Well if you are looking for a fluffy review that has nothing but amazing things to say about the product and not one single downside, well then you may want to exit now. My best friend Hailey is a new distributor and I decided to support her new business by spending my hard earned coin and purchasing a complete lip kit to start my LipSense journey. So this review will be as real as it gets. If you’re looking for real, then keep on reading!
Needless to say, LipSense is everywhere. Like a lot of people, I was highly curious. I wanted to see if the claims were true. So I went ahead and decided to try the product for myself! I went ahead and purchased two colors, the gloss, and the Oops Remover. AGAIN, Nobody is paying me a single cent or giving me anything in exchange for this post. These are just my personal thoughts and experiences. So here we go!
What the heck is LipSense?
LipSense is a liquid lipstick, and the biggest new MLM phenomenon. The main selling points that distinguish it from other lipsticks is that it’s highly durable – lasting anywhere between 4-18 hours and staying on through eating, drinking, kissing, exercising, swimming, etc. The standard prices are $25 for each color, plus you need a tube of $20 gloss, and they also have a $10 lipstick remover. All of the three products I just mentioned is what you will get in your initial starter kit. (retail price $55)

Can you really wear it all day and it not come off?
Yup. When I drink something, there’s no lipstick residue on my cup. The only residue I find is from the gloss, not the actual lip color. When I spend hours outside in the hot sun, my LipSense isn’t smeared or runny.
All those videos of your LipSense friends running their fingers across their lips and showing the camera that nothing came off are real my friends. Sometimes, if you’ve just barely put on the gloss, it comes off a little, but the gloss is mostly shea butter, so that’s understandable.
Overall, I’ve been highly impressed with the staying power of LipSense
DOES IT REALLY LAST 18 HOURS?
Umm….that’s still questionable and here is why. For me personally, the longest I have had it on is about 10 full hours. Mainly that is because I can’t stand to have makeup on any longer than that, but also that’s usually when the look of “wear” starts to settle in on most of my products, including the lips. Most distributors will even be very honest with you and tell you up front that for it last up to 18 hours is a bit of a stretch. But again, as I mentioned above, wear time varies per person. But lets all think about it for a minute…….why in the world would you even want to have lipstick on for that long? haha! Mine typically starts to wear off at my waterline first (your waterline is where the inside of your mouth meets your lips). But the waterline is also the hardest place to retain color pigment.
But the thing is – I very rarely need more than 8-9 hours of coverage in a row. Count how many hours you’d like your makeup to stay on perfectly for. Chances are it’s not more than 8-9. And I sincerely hope you don’t require camera-ready lipstick for 18 hours anyways. If you do need more than the typical 8-9 hours, you can add one more quick layer at hour 9 and be good for another few hours.
Technically the LipSense claim is that it lasts up to 18 hours, so they’re right. I’m sure if you never talked or ate or moved that day, it would stay on perfectly for 18 hours. Personally mine lasts 10 hours perfectly, but the bottom line is this: Yes, it really does last all day long. It’s nice to put it on in the morning and not have to worry about it for the rest of the day until I get home from work and remove all of my make-up.
DOES IT WRECK YOUR LIPS?
This was my biggest concern. A lot of lipsticks leave my lips feeling chapped and rough. I thought if there was a lipstick that’s so powerful it holds color all day long it MUST wreak havoc on your lips. For me, I wouldn’t say its totally drying on my lips while wearing it, but once I remove, I definitely have to use some type of lip scrub or exfoliate followed by a lip conditioner to moisturize my lips. IS IT REALLY ONE OF A KIND?
No. This is where marketing from SeneGence comes in. There are a lot of liquid lipsticks on the market. A lot of them last a really long time. A lot of them are smudge proof and kiss proof and everything proof. A lot of them are extremely moisturizing. Almost all of them cost less than LipSense. HOWEVER, I do think LipSense has a larger color selection than most, as well as many highly universal shades. This is one company that I think focuses on formulating shades that are flattering to all skintones, and as a brown girl, this is very refreshing. Also, with LipSense, you can buy one color and wear it matte or glossy without having to purchase two separate colors. But with most other companies, they do not even make the same two shades in both a gloss and matte. You usually are stuck with trying to decide between another color. With LipSense, they offer both a gloss and a matte sealant for your colors. The choice is yours! 🙂
DRUM ROLL: Is LipSense worth the price tag?
It depends. The product is great, there is no denying that. It’s long-lasting, it’s high quality, it’s moisturizing while wearing. The colors are varied and fun. I like that there are a LOT of pictures available of different people wearing any given color, so you can see how it might look on your skin tone. You can also get samples from your distributor to see how certain colors look on you. If you are someone who just likes to wear lipstick or a splash of color on your lips once every “eclipse” (haha get it……given what happened yesterday! I know, super corny but I couldn’t resist), then LipSense or any quality lipstick may not be for you given the return on investment. But if you are a make-up lover like me, you like wearing a different shade of lip color depending on what you’re wearing; Or even if you find a staple color that you absolutely love and will wear it every day, then I say HECK YEAH! Oh, and a side note: I personally do not think the lipstick remover is necessary. Luckily I’ve had some really awesome LipSense distributor friends be very honest about this fact, and even tell me about a Neutrogena bar that does the same thing. If you want to try out LipSense, maybe get a bold color, a more subtle color, and a gloss to start.

I love my lipsense. It tooks oem experimenting to get a perfect color, but I love it.
I’ve only tried lipsense twice and found it only lasts about 5 hours. That means reapply at lunch, which isn’t terrible, but I was hoping for more. Giving it another go trying some tips for wear.
