“He is Risen!”

“I am the resurrection and the Life. He who believes in me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.” – John 11:25-26

Easter day is finally here, and even though there have been egg hunts galore for the children, many folks dressed as the Easter bunny, money spent on the perfect dress and shoes for Easter Sunday at church, and a ridiculous amount of money spent on those oh so adorable Easter baskets, lets all not forget the true meaning of this special time.

On this day many years ago,  a man by the name of Jesus Christ laid nailed up on a cross for both you and I and he gladly gave his life.  He was nailed there, not for the sins that he had done, or crimes he had committed, but he did it all for you and me and for our sins and transgressions. He died that day and they then put him in a grave, but three days later he rose again, and the debt of all of our since has been paid.  Just think about how awesome our Jesus Christ is. He did all of that for us!

Easter has always been a special time in my life. Its a time when family gathers and spends a lot of much needed time together, and celebrate the reason for the occasion. However, even though I realize its not important now, growing up it was always a big to do for us all to go shopping for new “easter outfits!” We all wanted to show up to church in a new dress and shoes. But now that I am older and truly appreciate the reasons behind Easter, I’m not so much into going out and purchasing a new wardrobe for the occasion.  One, because I’m cheaper these days and I would rather see my bank account grown, but secondly, I now truly understand the meaning of “come as you are.”  I always remember my Pastor, Rev. Hayden always saying that to folks, and I now too embrace that.  So these days, I am a fan of shopping within the walls of my own closet.  So this Easter, I am taking to some pieces that I already own and embracing this day head on.

This super chic outfit that I put together, with the exception of the shoes and accessories (handbag, sunglasses, jewelry), the outfit itself is under $50.
